Educational Foundation Annual Scrapbooking Event January 28 and 29 -  Join us for the Grass Lake Educational Foundation's Annual Scrapbooking event at Grass Lake High School on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 9 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday, January 29, 2012, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Participants can pay at the door on the days of the event. $55 for Saturday and Sunday, $40 for Saturday only. $25 for Sunday only. All proceeds will go directly toward improving educational opportunities for Grass Lake students. Contact Brad Hamilton with questions at 522-5540. Warriors Named to 2011 All-Cascades Conference Football Team
The following team members of the 2011 Warrior Football team have been named as All-Conference players: Steven Tyler-Senior Linebacker, Frank Vuocolo-Junior Running Back, Joe Niehaus-Senior Offensive Lineman, Spencer Baird-Junior Defensive Back, Zach Walker-Senior Defensive Lineman, Zach Niehaus-Senior Defensive Lineman, Kevin Fisher-Senior Running Back. Honorable Mention was made of Logan Konopka-Junior Quarterback. Congratulations to these team members for their accomplishments. Click here for the entire Cascades Conference team.

Grass Lake Football Team Continues Winning Honors
The 2011 Warrior Football Team continues to receive accolades for their successful season by collecting spots on the 2011 Jackson Citizen Patriot Dream Team. We congratulate the following team members for this recognition.

Head football coach Randy Cole has been named the Coach of the Year for the Citizen Patriot Dream Football Team. The 12th-year coach was also honored in 2006 when the Warriors played for the Division 7 state championship at Ford Field. This year, Grass Lake won the Cascades Conference title and finished 11-1 to tie a school record for victories in a season, matching the mark set in 2006. Cole’s record at Grass Lake is 91-39.
The following players were also named to the Dream Team:
Joe Niehaus - 1st Team
Grass Lake Sr. Off. lineman
The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Niehaus played left tackle on offense and left end on defense for Cascades Conference champs. He was named an honorable mention Associated Press Division 5-6 all-stater.
Frank Vuocolo - 1st Team
Grass Lake Jr. Running Back
Vuocolo rushed for 1,516 yards and had 20 rushing TDs, eight receiving TDs, and four 2-point conversions for 176 points. The AP honorable mention all-stater scored in every game.
Zach Niehaus - 1st Team
Grass Lake Sr. Defensive line
The 6-foot, 280-pound defensive tackle helped Grass Lake to an undefeated regular season and No. 5 ranking in Divison 6 by the Associated Press.
Zach Walker - 2nd Team
Grass Lake Senior Defensive Line
Stalwart on defensive line for Grass Lake team that had four shutouts.
Steven Tyler - 3rd Team
Grass Lake Senior Linebacker
Bruising linebacker also rushed for nearly 400 yards for state-ranked Warriors.
Corey Robinett - Special Mention
Grass Lake Sophomore Kicker

Made several key field goals during the Warriors' regular season and playoff run.

The Associated Press has released its Division 5-6 All-State football team and the following Grass Lake Varsity Team members were included:

Randy Cole - Honorable Mention Coach of the Year

The Run Ends

The 2011 Grass Lake Warrior football team joined the 2006 team with 11 wins as the two most victorious seasons in school history with a loss to Constantine in the State Regional finals at the Joe Bechtel Athletic Complex. The final score of the game was 42-25, but the final season record was 11-1, with a Cascades Conference Championship and a District Championship to show for their work. We are extremely proud of these young men, their coaches, and the support of our cheerleaders, parents, family members, marching band, and our community. Thank you "BLUE" for a season that will always be remembered. Outstanding effort all year long.


Grass Lake Wins Close One Against Leslie - 23-22

DISTRICT CHAMPIONS AND STILL UNBEATEN!! - The Miracle Men come back from a seemingly insurmountable half time score, give up a touchdown on the opening kick-off for the 2nd half, and then they put the clamps on and showed the high powered offense we are used to seeing. Congratulations to our players, coaches, cheerleaders, parents, and fans!!! Great Job!!! Next for the Warriors - A home game Saturday, November 12 against Constantine at 1:00 PM. John Lesinski Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week and All-America Nominee
Grass Lake Grad John Lesinski, senior linebacker for Albion College, continues to garner awards and recognition for his play on the field and his work in the classroom. John, a linebacker on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association leading Albion Briton football team, was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for his play against formerly  unbeaten Albion College. John had 12 tackles in the game and an interception to help the Britons remain undefeated in the conference. Click here to see the Citizen Patriot story. John has also been nominated for Capital One Academic All-America honors selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Congratulations John!

2011 Grass Lake Varsity Football Team Wins Pre-District Game - Goes to 10-0 On Season
Congratulations to our Warrior Football Team for their win over a very good Hillsdale Hornets football team, 21-0. The Warriors will play Leslie for the District Championship on Friday, November 4, at 7:00 PM at the Joe Bechtel Memorial Football Complex. GO WARRIORS!! 2011 Grass Lake Varsity Football Team - Perfect 9-0 Regular Season Record
Congratulations to our Warrior Football Team for completing the second undefeated season in Grass Lake history, and the first since the 1968 team. The Warriors gave a valiant effort and overcame a great Leslie team 36-28. Click here for the Citizen Patriot story and video. On to the playoffs!

Grass Lake Warrior Football Team Conference Champions
Congratulations to the 2011 Grass Lake Warrior Varsity Football team for their 51-0 win over Hanover Horton to capture the sole conference championship after going undefeated through the conference. Grass Lake Football Team Beats Formerly Unbeaten Manchester
#9 Ranked Warriors Win Battle of Unbeatens - Move to 6-0 on season. Lock in a post-season berth. Join us October 7 for Homecoming against Vandercook. GLHS Grad John Lesinski Nominated for Scholar-Athlete Award
Albion College senior inside linebacker John Lesinski is one of 127 candidates for the National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Awards. The 127 nominees also comprise the list of semifinalists for the 2011 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation.

A product of Grass Lake, Lesinski is the only candidate from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and one of only 30 in all Division III. The physical education major has twice achieved distinction on Albion’s Dean’s List and he was named to the MIAA’s Academic Honor Roll at the end of the 2010-2011 academic year.
